LOS ANGELES – JPX Media announced the winners of THE 2010 INTERNATIONAL BOOK AWARDS (IBA). Over 300 winners and finalists were announced in May in over 140 categories. Author Bernie Nagy with High Country Artworks in Fairplay, Colorado was honored with the 2010 International Book Award as a "Winner" in the "Travel Essay" category and as a "Winner" in the "Travel Pictorial" category for his South Park book. Jeff Keen, President and CEO of JPX Media said of the awards, “The 2010 results represent a phenomenal mix of books from a wide array of publishers throughout the United States. Local South Park Author and Photographer Bernie Nagy previously received Colorado’s “The Flume” People’s Choice Awards for the Best Local Author and Photographer and the Colorado Independent Publishers’ Award for Best Travel Book, and winner for outstanding achievement in Cover Design and Illustrations.
No, the book is not about the animated TV series characters. Welcome to the “real” South Park, a high grassland basin surrounded by mountain ridges. Nagy was so impressed with the beauty surrounding his new residence in South Park that he took photographs for a period of three years, often journeying to more remote locations that could only be reached by hiking or by four-wheel-drive vehicle. His dynamic pictures not only document the beauty of South Park’s scenery but also events, people, history and the wide variety of natural habitats.
“This book was a labor of love, and I hope it inspires others to go out in nature, visit God’s country and enjoy the wonderful land that we have inherited from those who came before us and who created its rich history,” Nagy added.
